News: Sakata Continues to Support the American Heart Association

On October 3rd, in Monterey, CA, more than 600 Northern Central Coast residents and visitors gathered for the American Heart Association’s 9th annual Central Coast Heart & Stroke Walk to raise life-saving funds and awareness for heart disease and stroke.

The event, which included approximately 80 teams, including Team Sakata, and raised over $80,000! Funds raised from the Heart & Stroke walk event will benefit research, advocacy, outreach and education.

Team Sakata was named this year’s Northern Central Coast Top Team and raised over $5,500 in donations. The success of Team Sakata is largely in part of Jamie Kitz, who single-handedly raised over $4,600. Jamie was also named Top Fundraiser out of the entire Central Coast Heart Walk registered fundraisers. Team Sakata also held its second annual Bake Sale at the Morgan Hill office which raised a couple hundred dollars towards the events fundraising goal. Many people from various departments had a part in making Team Sakata’s efforts a success.

The participation of Sakata Seed America in the Heart & Stroke Walk reflects its overall corporate giving mission and commitment to supporting organizations in local communities throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Central America, dedicated to helping people live productive, healthy and enriched lives. In addition, Sakata is also sponsoring the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Luncheon to be held in February 2016 as well as the 2015 Central Coast Eating Healthy Guide presented by the American Heart Association.
